 Employee training and development is a broad concept that refers to a variety of employee learning opportunities. Employee training is a program that assists employees in acquiring specific knowledge or skill in order to improve their performance in their existing positions. Employee development is broader and focuses on an employee’s long-term success rather than a specific job role (What is Employee Training and Development?, 2021).

Orienting and training your new employees is the first step in getting him or her on board and up to speed. Employee orientation include providing new workers with the information they require to perform their jobs, as well as assisting them in developing an emotional attachment to the company.

How to Design on boarding to improve employee engagement?

Orienting employees entails more than simply introducing them to their peers. Use the on boarding moment to begin establishing in the new employee the business values and traditions in which you expect the person to become engaged, even if you don’t have a company- wide program like Toyota’s.

 Implementing the Training Program

It takes time and effort to develop an effective employee training program. It has to be efficient and it must be contemporary and functional. There are 4 main steps on how to create a training program for your employees (Greany, 2021).

01.)           Set objectives for your training plan

02.)           Make a plan for employee training

03.)           Make content for employee training

04.)           Keep track of what you’re doing and how you’re doing it.

Benefits of Employee Training and Development

Employee development and training can assist people improve their jobs and close performance gaps caused by a lack of knowledge or skills. This will provide and terms in becoming more productive and achieving better business results, giving them a competitive advantage over their competitors. Training can help organizations be more innovative and agile in responding to change.

Conclusion

Employee development and training are crucial to your company’s long-term success. Employees much are productive, efficient, and adaptive, as well as develop their communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
